Sliced tomato with salt and pepper is one of the easiest and healthiest foods you can prepare in minutes. Simply wash a ripe tomato, cut it into even slices, and sprinkle a small amount of salt and freshly ground black pepper on top. The salt enhances the tomato’s natural sweetness, while the pepper adds a mild spicy flavor that makes it even more delicious.

Ingredients
1–2 ripe tomatoes (heirloom or vine-ripened are best)
Flaky sea salt (or kosher salt)
Freshly ground black pepper
Instructions
Wash the tomatoes and pat them dry. Slice them evenly, about ¼ inch thick, and arrange the slices on a plate in a single layer. Sprinkle a light pinch of flaky sea salt over each slice. Add freshly ground black pepper to taste. Let the tomatoes sit for 3–5 minutes before serving to allow the salt to draw out their natural juices and enhance the flavor.
Optional additions
A drizzle of extra virgin olive oil
A few fresh basil leaves
A splash of balsamic vinegar
This simple dish is fresh, juicy, and full of natural flavor. Perfect as a light snack, side dish, or a quick summer appetizer.
